Recreation in Pine Island Sound, Florida
While staying with us, you can do it all, or do nothing. We'll leave you to your own devices for the latter, but we have plenty to keep the active guest satisfied. While at Cabbage Key, you may enjoy fishing & boating, dining, nature & wildlife, beaches, and more. We suggest bringing a flashlight and all of your supplies for your stay with us as there is no general store on the Island.
Fishing & Boating
Our waters are world-renown for spectacular sport fishing. Whether your choice is fly, spin or plug, there are plenty of opportunities nearby. We can arrange a skiff if you want to try the flats and mangroves on your own. If you prefer to fish with a guide from his boat, we can provide names & phone numbers of local fishermen you can contact to arrange a charter. Game fish include speckled sea trout, redfish, snook, shark and the magnificent silver king.

Dining
Located in the Old House, our restaurant serves breakfast, lunch and dinner in two rooms. Our chefs prepare all meals in our kitchen from ingredients boated over daily. Fresh vegetables, the finest meats and local fish are complemented with breads and pastries from our ovens.
Nature & Wildlife
Walk our nature trails and meet the wildlife the way nature intended. Signs identify our flora and fauna. As you explore our island you'll discover the natural beauty that we love so much. Leave the stress at home while immersing yourself in our place. In the water, on the land, or in the air, there is always something to discover. Watch for an osprey eating a fish or an eagle soaring overhead. Anhinga and cormorants dive for dinner. Pelicans fill their beaks in loud splashes.

Beaches
Cayo Costa is a barrier island immediately to our west. It is only accessible by boat so its six miles of pristine beach offer unspoiled beauty. We can arrange a beach experience you will forever remember. We'll pack a delicious box lunch and give you easy directions for you to find that special spot. Wonder at the endless variety of driftwood and vegetation; watch birds soar overhead and work the surf line. Perhaps see a porpoise breach, a tarpon roll or a ray jump clear of the gulf. Enjoy... you may not see another person all day.
Miscellaneous
Climb our water tower and look west for the Green Flash as the sun sets over the Gulf of Mexico. The view of the Gulf of Mexico on one side and Pine Island Sound on the other is magnificent. Visit our gift shop for that perfect souvenir. Our embroidery is beautiful. You'll want several special mementoes for yourself... and don't forget those at home. Explore the detail of Old Florida architecture. Count the dollar bills in the bar. [hint - there're over 70,000 of them!] Better yet, grab a marker, sign your name and find that special spot for yours. Been here before? Now you can return to find that lost dollar! Stay at one of our cottages and watch the evening settle in around your boat docked at your doorstep.
